General Conditions for Examinations
Candidates can be entered for IDTA theatre branch examinations by members of the IDTA
who hold an Associate qualification or higher in a theatre core subject (i.e. Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz, Theatre Craft).
Teachers requiring an examination session must meet the required minimum fee which is reviewed on an annual basis. Details of the minimum fees are stated on the current fees list. Examination fees are also reviewed on an annual basis.
To apply for an examination session the teacher must send in an examination request form, these are downloadable from the members section of the IDTA website or from head office. The request form must be sent to head office 6 to 8 weeks prior to the date of the examination session. The form must be accompanied by any professional application forms and professional examination fees. Forms for reasonable adjustment/special consideration must be submitted to head office 6 to 8weeks prior to the examination.
Examiners will be selected by head office. No teacher or candidate may select his or her own examiner. The examiner's decision is final and no correspondence or discussion may be entered into regarding the examiner's report.
Studio windows and mirrors should be covered to prevent unwarranted intrusion or distraction where necessary.
It must be clearly understood by the candidates that being successful in an amateur examination in no way suggests the recipient's ability to teach and that it may not be used for any subsequent professional advertising purposes.
Candidates who are unsuccessful in an examination may not enter a test for the same grade within three months from the date of the previous test.
