Our School
Miss Tracey Austin established The Dance Factory in 1986, and it is better equipped than most schools in the Morecambe and Lancaster area providing a purpose built studio, central heating, stereo system, twin tiered ballet barres, mirrors, changing room and all facilities.
I.D.T.A. Dance Syllabus The school instructs to the International Dance Teachers' Association (IDTA) dance syllabus. The I.D.T.A. examinations and qualifications are recognised and approved by the Department of Education and Employment. This ensures that your child on passing their exams will leave our school with an internationally recognised dance certificate. Examinations The Dance Factory has on average 2-exam sessions per year. All pupils that have reached the appropriate standard will be offered, and with parental permission, entered for an exam. All exams are normally held on a Saturday or Sunday, but may be held on a school day. Since dance is educational, the school authorities do not object. ShowTime The Dance Factory produces a show performance every two years at one of the local Theatres. It gives our pupils the opportunity to perform on stage and to demonstrate the skills they have learned during the previous two years. This is a very exciting time for everyone, and all pupils are encouraged to participate. Costume and ticket fees are not included in tuition.
